DEDHAM'S FAIRBANKS HOUSE
The Fairbanks House is a historic landmark located in Dedham, Massachusetts, USA. Built between 1637 and 1641 by English settlers Jonathan and Grace Fairbanks, it is considered to be the oldest timber-framed house in North America still standing in its original location. The house features Jacobean architecture with a two-story structure, a large central chimney, diamond-paned windows, and a steeply-pitched roof. The Fairbanks House has a hidden chamber that was likely used as a hiding place for runaway slaves during the Underground Railroad. Today, the house is open to the public as a museum, offering guided tours and special events to visitors.
