Welcome to Anchor Trolleys new website. Anchor Trolleys and Transportation is growing by leaps and bounds, or would that be by back roads and historic streets? Either way, we are excited to continue providing the best historic tour in Fernandina Beach, and we needed a more detailed website. With a storied and diverse history, Fernandina Beach is a small town with a history of being held under control of eight different flags. We are the only U.S. territory to have such a background. Our historic Trolley tours will take you for a ride through centuries of amazing history, including some of Florida’s firsts. Timucua Indians, territorial wars, pandemics, pirates, smuggling and trains are just a a few of the topics we’ll discuss. You’ll hear about our town’s famous visitors, see her eclectic architecture, hear of her highs during the tourism boom of the early 1900’s, and learn of some of her embarrassing lows. You’ll hear how immigrants brought their ship building skills to our waterfront labeling Fernandina Beach as “The Birthplace of the Modern Shrimping Industry”. We want to show you what we do, not just tell the story.
